I graduated from the hospitality program at UNLV a couple of months ago and it was looking like it was going to be pretty hard to find the job that I really wanted, but I had to move to Henderson to get a real chef’s job. It was not something that I was looking for, but a friend of mine called me up and told me to drive up there and interview with her head chef. The guy is really intense, but he gave me the job and so far it has been great. The apartments in henderson are less expensive than what I had been paying for in Las Vegas and I am making a lot more money than I was, so I have been coming out ahead all of the way around. The best thing is that my friend needed a new roommate and that is really the best way to go if you have one that you can get along with and one that you can trust to hold up her end of the deal.
So far the two of us have been working the same shifts, so we have been sharing a ride to work and back. The only problem is that we are working really late nights. We go to work at 9 PM and we get off right before they start to prep things for breakfast at five in the morning. Then we go home and sleep until after lunch. We have been laying by the pool in the afternoons and some times we play tennis. It is a really strange way to live your life, but I am getting used to it. In a couple of weeks they are going to move me to an early shift, so then it will be exactly the opposite.
